Through our multiple experiences over the last 10 years we have drawn several conclusions concerning the Information Gaps encountered in all organisations:
It is inefficient and irrelevant to try to fill the gaps by:
- Using spreadsheets that are error and human risk «prone»
- Trying to interface the management tools or sources
- Using traditional BI with limited flexibility and agility in changing contexts and unstable needs
- Using temporary solutions such as consulting for recurring needs
Instead it is relevant to build and operate an « Unit bridge » that:
- Connects fast and with flexibility the data sources to the needs
- Produces recurrent and high quality results
- Is agile and scalable to support additional features
- Allows the re-use of its components for other purposes
and to optimize and operate a set of business or transversal processes that:
- Upstream, on the data side
- Ensure the right management of the sources & improve their content
- Ensure the right and periodic feeding from the sources
- Implement missing tools & associated processes (if required)
- Downstream , on the information side
- Use the output to interact with the sources to improve their quality
- Use the output in analytics activities, generate actions and organise the follow up of these actions
- Feed any user interested in data and information managed within the « Unit Bridge » at the various levels of the organisation
